Laboratorio de soberanía

A laboratory of sovereignty

qué es estowhat this is

Tu identidad soberana es irrevocableYour sovereign identity is irrevocable

tawasuyu is a vertical software suite written in Rust that spans the whole of computing, from the bottom up: from wawa, an operating system that boots on bare metal, and Llimphi, its own graphics engine, up to a sovereign desktop environment and more than fifty applications — writing, notes, accounting, mail, astronomy, music, community governance — many of them in daily use on the machine of the person who writes it.

It rests on an architecture of strict rules. What gets stored uses native, immutable formats, where every piece of data is named by its content and nothing can be altered without it showing; identity is decentralised, a cryptographic key each person generates and keeps; and a shared substrate runs through the suite so nothing is written twice. Each domain's logic lives in cores that do not know who draws them, separate from their interfaces, and every change goes through rigorous verification before it stays. There is no account to open and no server to ask for permission: if this site disappears tomorrow, what you have installed keeps working exactly the same.

Its own ground is takana, a Linux distribution with its own repository and site, where the suite will run natively: it builds every program from source, in isolation, and stores each result by its fingerprint, so building twice yields the same binary, byte for byte.

And its architecture does not come from Silicon Valley: it comes from the Andes. Tawa suyu means «four regions», and the code is split into four — perceive, know, make and root — like the phases of what happens to information; moving something to another region changes what it is. Running through it is the chakana, the stepped cross whose name comes from chaka, bridge: a tribute to institutions that sustained roads and terraces for centuries — the reciprocity of ayni, the shared work of minka, the community of the ayllu — written this time as software. What lasts is not what an owner keeps on a server, but what a community sustains.

The state of things, before you go on. This is one person's research system, in motion. Some parts are used here every day; others open fine and nobody else has seen them yet; a few are a design document. Every card says which case it is, and when something has never been tried on real hardware, it says that too.

The individual applications run on any distribution. And if you want it, the whole desktop replaces the one you have: it is one more Wayland session on the login screen.

Build it from the repository with one command, or download the binary.

curl -fsSL https://tawasuyu.net/instalar.sh | sh

One line installs the whole suite. It doesn't install anything by itself: it brings churay, the installer, and opens its window so you choose what you want. Individual applications go into your home directory and ask for no password.

The phone as one more machine in your set. Twenty-six applications have a signed APK — health, the plot, the assembly, the tab at the shop, the sky, the games, the editor, the notebook, six-digit pairing, the ERP, the terminal and the console for talking to the fleet — and they are being published again one by one: the downloads were lost when the site moved servers on 24 October 2026, and five are available today. The same application as on the desktop: there is no separate mobile version, it is the same code with a different screen.

None of them has been seen running on a phone yet. On the test device (Mali GPU) the graphics engine loses its context after the first frame and the screen can stay black; the APKs are published to be tested, not used, and they are signed with a development key.

escritorio, login gráfico e init, instalados desde el repositoriodesktop, graphical login and init, installed from the repository

Native, not cross-compiled: the whole desktop builds and installs from a signed pkg repository of 37 packages, tested on a machine that compiled nothing. You log in from the screen, with a PAM stack written for FreeBSD, and our init boots the machine as process number one: it checks the disk, mounts, enables swap, sets the hostname, brings up the network, confines services in jails, and shuts the machine down and reboots it in order. Still missing is a physical screen: the compositor already opens the seat, the keyboard and the mouse, and the last step, drawing, needs a machine with an Intel or AMD GPU.
